In this episode Peter Wright our Head of Communications speaks with Justin Humphreys our CEO (Safeguarding) and Cerys Morgan, Author of 'Only you can do this' which is her powerful testimony of surviving abuse in a church context.  We continuing our series looking at our safer places pledge and the opportunity it provides for people and organisations to respond in a positive way to issues of abuse. In this podcast we look at commitment two of six from the pledge and explore what it really means for organisations and individuals to put survivors first when it comes to responding to abuse.

Statement 2: Put survivors first

Too often we see cases where victims and survivors have not been believed, have been silenced or have been further abused by the response they have received. We will listen to victims and survivors and ensure we put their needs at the heart of any response

"This is the effect that if the church deals with it badly, it affects the rest of your life. It affects your family and everybody. It's so important just to feel that you belong, because going through abuse, you don't feel that you belong." Cerys Morgan.
