Safeguarding Sunday

Help raise awareness of safeguarding in your church.

Join us Sunday 11th October 2020

‘Speak out on behalf of the voiceless, and for the rights of all who are vulnerable.'  Proverbs 31:8

Help us as we seek to raise awareness of safeguarding in our churches. Our campaign 'Safeguarding Sunday' is a great opportunity for your church to highlight all it is doing to create safer places, and to publicly thank and acknowledge all those working tirelessly behind the scenes to make it happen.

It's your chance to:

  • Explain why safeguarding is so important
  • Talk about all you have in place to safeguard vulnerable people
  • Show how safeguarding is integral to the Christian message
  • Introduce your safeguarding team
  • Acknowledge and thank your volunteers
  • Commit together as a church to create safer places for all

You'll be joining with hundreds of churches up and down the country who throughout October will be highlighting all the incredible work that is being done, and sharing the good safeguarding stories from within the church.  Protecting vulnerable people is at the heart of the Christian message and so we want to take this opportunity to show our communities that we take this mandate seriously.

To help you do this we've updated are church resource pack full of ideas to help your church get involved including: videos, prayers, song ideas, activities and preaching plans, plus we'll be hosting our very own Safeguarding Sunday service online right here.

Get involved.

Follow these three simple steps:

  2. Register using the form on this page to be sent more information and download the resources
  3. Follow and share the campaign on social media on Facebook and Twitter using #SafeguardingSunday #SafeguardingSunday2020

“Though our PCC and leaders knew our safeguarding policies the general congregation may not have had much idea.  It was really useful to be able to hang a service on the theme. The video was really useful and enabled us to talk about all of our responsibilities under God's safekeeping. I thought all the resources were really good and enabled us to put together a service very easily.”

Rev June Asquith, Liverpool

"The person who came forward to talk to me, did so because I had done a "Safeguarding Sunday" talk using your material and video - so it is having an impact"

Helen
