Meet our Trustees and Company Directors

Andrew C Pierce

Chair of Trustees

Andrew served 30+ years with Devon & Cornwall Police, latterly as a Detective Superintendent leading on child protection and Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA). In retirement he acted as Independent Chair of a number of Serious Case Reviews; Buckfast Abbey Safeguarding Commission; and later similarly for Plymouth RC diocese. His own church history has involved Brethren, Charismatic, Pentecostal and independent evangelical churches, as career moves forced to change.

Bridget Robb

Vice-chair of Trustees

Bridget is a registered social worker, and was a Social Work Manager in Oxfordshire Local Authority. Until 2016 she was CEO of the British Association of Social Workers (BASW), and General Secretary of the Social Workers Union. Bridget is a church warden and safeguarding officer in her local church and on the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisory Committee.

Dr Tanya Herring


Tanya is a scholar-practitioner and an international criminal law and international human rights doctoral researcher with Bangor University Law School, Wales, post-doctoral researcher with the Wales Observatory for Youth and Human Rights, research fellow with ICO of London.  Her specialism is in international State responsibility and obligations in crimes against children and vulnerable populations. 

Julie Douglas


Julie is a registered social worker, working with children and families in a large Local Authority; she was a Probation Officer for seven years at the start of her social work career.  Julie has been involved in church leadership most of her life and has delivered safeguarding training within churches for over 25 years.   She is on the safeguarding team at her local church. 

Angela Ward


Angela has more than 30 years' experience in journalism and PR and runs her own content creation and media agency.  Prior to this, she was PR Manager for one of the UK's top hospice care charity's working with children and vulnerable adults.  She has experience as a volunteer through her work for a cancer charity following the death of her four-year old daughter from neuroblastoma in 2004.

Oliver Home


Oliver is Diocesan Secretary at the Diocese of Bristol in the Church of England. In this role, he is the Chief Officer of the central charity that supports the Diocese's 200 churches and its safeguarding lead. His other responsibilities include training, consultancy, property management, investment management and strategic finance. Oliver is active in his local church.

Peter Wharrad


Peter has extensive experience at director level in a wide range of commercial organisations, specialising in tax, finance and governance, and he is currently a director of an international ministry focused on equipping churches and church leaders. Outside of work, he is active in his local church and has previously spent many years involved in church leadership, including leading on safeguarding.
