This week, we launched our political Manifesto, outlining key opportunities to improve policy, legislation and guidance for safer places.

Annette Williams lives and works in Manchester. She has 30 years of experience in the social work sector and has been qualified as a social worker since 1991. Annette has extensive experience of working with BME families as a specialism and has worked with communities around issues of harmful practices.

Experience:

Annette is the safeguarding lead at her local church and is a member of the leadership team. She currently undertakes independent work in relation to her professional experience in the form of consultancy, lecturing, training and risk assessment of BME families involved in the child protection and LAC systems. She is also an associate of Just Psychology CIC as an independent trainer and Family Group Conference coordinator.

Since June 2015 Annette has worked as a Safeguarding Advisor for thirtyone:eight providing a range of safeguarding services and advice to faith organisations and places of worship covering vulnerable children and adults at risk of harm. Amongst her wider responsibilities, she is the Lead for strategic work focusing on Black and multicultural communities. She sits on the National Working Group tackling Child Abuse Linked to Faith or Belief and the Stop Child Witchcraft Accusations Group (SCWA) to offer support to communities and professionals to raise awareness of abuse linked to faith and promote safe practice within faith communities involved in this practice.
