This week, we launched our political Manifesto, outlining key opportunities to improve policy, legislation and guidance for safer places.

Chris has worked with Thirtyone:eight since 2018 and has undertaken a number of safeguarding audits and case reviews since then. He is also an independent social worker on the Bishop’s Safeguarding Management Group of a local diocese.

Chris has been saddened by the various news stories over the years, of abuse within the Christian church, and is particularly keen to support churches and other faith groups to establish robust safeguarding practices, so that they can become examples of good practice for other organisations.

Experience:

Chris has over 30 year's experience in children and families social work, working in a variety of settings as a Probation Officer, Family Court Welfare Officer and Social Worker. Since 1998, he has managed a variety of services in both the statutory and voluntary sector, including multi-agency youth offending teams and a performing arts school. For 5 years he was Director of Children's Services for a national advocacy charity and more recently was a Registered Manager of an independent fostering agency. For eight years, he was also a Trustee of a Birmingham based theatre company. He is currently an independent social worker and consultant, carrying out a range of assessments, safeguarding audits and management consultancy.

Qualifications:

BA(Hons) in History from the University of York.

MSc in Applied Social Studies from Oxford University (together with a CQSW qualification in social work).

Certificate in First Line Management (Level 3) from the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM)

Diploma in Leadership and Management (Level 5) from the Chartered Management Institute (CMI).

He is registered with Social Work England and is a Member of both ILM and CMI.
