When we’re seeking to create safer places we have to carefully consider the people in our environment. It may be that there are individuals in our churches, charities or clubs who have previous criminal convictions or are currently under investigation and who may pose a risk. Therefore additional safeguarding measures may need to be put in place.
Handling these situations can be complex. It can be hard to know where to start and how to handle it sensitively. We are here to help.
We are have a new service for our members, offering reviews of your risk assessments and behaviour contracts where additional safeguarding measures may need to be in place.
What are Risk Assessment and Behaviour Contract Reviews?
This is service it is aimed at those managing the risk of an individual attending an event or wanting to attend their church/organisation or activities on a regular basis.
We consider all aspects of risk including someone that is under investigation for a criminal offence, a person that has been convicted (including those on the Sex Offenders Register) and those who are post-conviction, prison or their offences are considered to be in the past and according to a DBS certificate recorded as Spent.
We also explore the measures that can be put in place when an individual’s behaviour is causing a risk to those around them, and how to implement appropriate guidelines that protect them, and those they are in contact with.
