The DBS department now offer a brand new service whereby they will automatically email your Lead Recruiters each month if there are any disclosure applications that may be due for renewal if they were processed three years previously.

If your organisation processes DBS checks with us online via the Ebulk system, it is still possible to log in and download a more detailed custom report to see what checks were processed and when. But this reminder email is an added safety measure to ensure that none of your workers slip through the net. A short video tutorial on how to generate custom reports can be viewed here

DBS have generally advised that churches and organisations carry out checks every three years (unless applicants have registered with the DBS Update Service and the organisation regularly checks their status online with the DBS), but you should also check with your insurance company and your organisation’s Head Office (if applicable) to see what they require. If you ever had any concerns about a worker, or they were in a role with a high level of contact, then you could ask them to apply for a renewal at any interval.

The process of applying for a re-check or renewal is essentially the same as DBS checking an applicant for the first time as detailed in the Recruiters Guide.
