Award Frequently Asked Questions.
Find answers to some of our frequently asked questions about the Award.
Do I need to be a member to apply for the Award?
Yes, in order to apply for the Safeguarding Standard Award, your organisation must hold an active annual membership with Thirtyone:eight. For more information on becoming a member go to Become a member (thirtyoneeight.org) or contact our membership team on 0303 003 1111 (option 5) or email them on [email protected]
What do we get from completing the Award?
We hope that as an organisation, through the gathering and submitting of evidence and the assessment, you will receive valuable insight into your safeguarding practice. At the end of the assessment, you will receive a document detailing your achievements to be celebrated and areas where additional work may be required.
If you are successful in passing the award, you will be awarded the following: certificate, plaque, and window sticker, all stating the dates that the award is valid to and from (three years). The plaque and certificate will include your organisation’s name too. You will also receive a digital logo that you can use on your website and will have the option of being displayed on our virtual ‘wall of celebration’ for those who have passed the award.
How long is the award valid?
The Safeguarding Standard Award is valid for three years from the date of issue. You will be contacted by Thirtyone:eight when this is due to run out to establish whether you would like to renew the award.
How much does the Award cost?
The cost of the award is £1,260 plus 5% VAT.
How long is the process of the Safeguarding Standard Award?
The overall length of the Safeguarding Standard Award process is approximately seven months (with a six-month timescale for submission of the evidence). If your organisation does not pass, you will have an additional three months to resubmit any further evidence and so, the process will be approximately ten months in length.
Will I have a point of contact for the Safeguarding Standard Award process?
Yes, each organisation will have an allocated worker who will support you with the Safeguarding Standard Award process and undertake your assessment. Any questions or queries you have throughout the Safeguarding Standard Award process can be directed to your allocated worker.
How long will we have to submit our evidence?
You will have six months from the initial meeting with your allocated worker to submit your evidence for the Safeguarding Standard Award. Your allocated worker will communicate the submission date with you at your initial meeting and will regularly be in touch to offer support and remind you of this date too.
How long will it take us to compile our evidence?
This is a hard question for us to offer an answer for as this depends on how much of the evidence required you already have available.
How do I apply?
