Laura Rutherford – Trainer
I was a teacher for many years, specialising in English as a second language, working predominantly with adult refugees and asylum seekers, but also teenagers, young people on apprenticeships and families in schools. Creating safe spaces was key to this, especially when working with people who had experienced trauma and were still facing incredible challenges in the UK. I also worked as a safeguarding trainer for the Church of England Diocese here in Birmingham, equipping volunteers in local churches and leaders too.
I love training because…
I really like people! Even if you’re delivering a course you’ve taught several times before, it’s always different because everyone brings their own stories, experiences and questions.
