Everyone's safeguarding training needs are different. Our ‘Find my Training’ tool will help you work out what training you may need to be able to work safely.
To be able to book the training on our website, you need to have registered an email address with us to create an account. Below are some simple steps to get you registered so you can book.
- First, click ‘login/register’ in the top right-hand corner of the screen on the Thirtyone:eight home page
- Click ‘Member portal’
- Click ‘Create a user login here’
- Enter your details and click submit
- You will then be sent an email to verify your account – click on the link provided
- Go back onto the website and click ‘My Training’
At this point, your account is fully set up, so you will be able to book onto any of the training courses. Please do get in touch if you need any further help getting registered [email protected]
For training, you need a login for the Member’s portal which is different to the eBulk login you use for DBS.
You need to go to ‘Login/Register’ and click on the first tile for ‘Members portal’ and there will be some pink text that says ‘create a user login’. It is free, to create a user login.
A member portal account is for you as an individual, not an organisation login.
To get the code please email us at [email protected]
or call 0303 003 1111 (option 3 for training).
We offer a 14-day cooling off period after booking. If you contact us within this period we will cancel and fully refund the amount or switch the date of the booking free of charge.
If you contact us after the cooling off period, we can offer a partial refund less a £20 administrative fee, rising to £30 if the training is in less than 5 days time.
It is free to transfer the training to another delegate. We recommend that in these circumstances you email [email protected] to request the change to the booking. If transferring to another delegate we will need their full name and email address.
In order for someone else to access the training that you have bought you will need to send them a registration code that can be accessed from your account.
You will need your colleague’s full name and email address so you can send them the registration code that you have purchased for them.
The steps below will guide you through how to do this:
- First, log into your account on the thirtyoneeight.org website
- Click on ‘My Training’
- Click on ‘Registration codes’
- Click ‘Assign Access’ – fill in the email address that the delegate will want to set up their account with, and their first and last name (leave the password box blank).
Once you have sent them the registration code, they will receive an email. This email will guide them to log into their own account and they will then have access to the training and files that they need.
Typically, the majority of our training is delivered with delegates accessing the training from their own devices.
However, it is possible to stream to a large group of delegates so long as the following prerequisites can be met:
- Your organisation would need to have a very strong Zoom set up at your premises with someone who is willing to run the session in terms of getting it all set up - this would include a camera set up so we could see all delegates and a roaming microphone for delegates to participate in discussion.
- You would need someone willing to act as Pastoral support throughout the session as we would not be able to facilitate this via the Zoom chat as we normally would.
- You would also need someone to organise delegates in terms of a register, putting people in breakout rooms and getting everyone back into one group, working with our co-host.
- There would need to be a plan in place to allow delegates to ask questions throughout the session - e.g. post it notes handed to your nominated host who could then put them in the Zoom chat for our cohost to pick up.
- There would need to be enough space on site for breakout rooms to take place.
Each person who would like to access the course needs to have booked a place.
We will accept up to 3 delegates sharing a screen if they do not have access to a device or are not comfortable using a device.
We ask that each delegate is named on the Zoom screen so that our hosts know who is present and taking part in the session.
The slides for all our popular courses have recently been updated with delegates with visual impairments and specific learning needs such as dyslexia in mind. To optimise the training for delegates with these accessibility requirements, we've:
- Increased the contrast on the slides
- Minimised the amount of text
- Increased the size of the text
In addition, some of our courses have alt-text available for the images and video and the handbook is compatible with screen readers.
Finally, we have transcripts available for many of our most popular courses, which can be used with screen readers both for those with dyslexia and visual impairments.
If your delegates feel comfortable mentioning their learning needs to the trainer, they will be sure to read out any content shared in the chat function and to give extra comfort breaks to maximise learning as we recognise that those with accessibility needs are often required to concentrate harder to engage with the material.
If you could tell us which courses you were interested in attending, we can confirm which of the above measures have already been prepared. If there are further measures that would be beneficial to you, please do let us know.
Please contact us directly to discuss your access needs by emailing [email protected]
This seems like it should be a simple question to answer, but unfortunately, there is no single UK-wide framework for Safeguarding levels. However, various sectors and some individual UK nations do have them. So, the simple answer is that it depends on which Safeguarding training framework you’re referring to.
Our training courses are written to conform to the national frameworks in Northern Ireland and Wales, and to comply with the most recent laws and guidance relevant to the community, voluntary and faith sectors.
Unfortunately, England isn’t currently structured into one universally recognised structure with ‘levels’, but the content and accuracy will be the same as you may have come across in other sectors.
You will be able to see the learning outcomes against each course on our website to help you determine if this is the training that you need.
If it is not on the website, then this means it is now fully booked. All the courses that are showing are available to purchase. We have a capacity limit to make sure everyone gets the chance to interact and to keep it manageable for our trainers.
Where our courses say it is held over two sessions, they are usually on consecutive days, so for example if the website says 8th April 7pm to 9.30pm the second session will be on the evening of the 9th April at the same time.
If it’s a double session over one day the timings are usually 10am-12.30pm then 2pm-4.30pm.
It is recommended that training is updated every 3 years for most of our courses.
For Safeguarding Leads courses we recommend it is refreshed every 2 years.
Yes, upon satisfactory completion of the course you will be issued a certificate, which can be accessed from your portal account.
